Skills Modules
Teaching Specific Tasks in Composition
To help students better learn to write, part of what we must do is help them practice the skills of good writing. Over the centuries (yes, centuries), the English composition course has seen tremendous changes in how we conceive of "important" skills. Should we focus on grammar? Proper sentence structure? Quality of research sources? Mastery of rhetorical terms? The ability to communicate in multiple genres?
On this page, the focus is presenting a variety of course activities you can use to help your students learn various skills. These activities are spread across the website — think of this as a "warehouse" of classroom and online activities that may consist of entire modules, or simply a quick grammar lesson.
